Grant
Tucker
Grant Tucker gained most of his building knowledge in
his twenties while renovating old houses. Armed with
this practical knowledge he went on to project
manage a number of new buildings and several
subdivisions.
Grant started selling real estate in his thirties and,
after a short time, he felt that to be a true
professional, he needed more knowledge. Within a
year he had started a Graduate Diploma in Business
Studies with a Real Estate endorsement through
Massey University. With this qualification and three
years of experience he was then able to become an
Associate of the Real Estate Institute of New
Zealand (AREINZ).
He felt the Massey Graduate Diploma was a little light
on marketing so he embarked on Auckland University’s
Postgraduate Diploma in Management with a
Services/Marketing endorsement. From there, while
still working full time, he was accepted into
Lincoln University’s Masters Degree in Property
Studies and completed five of the six papers towards
the final degree.
After almost eight years of living and breathing real
estate sales and marketing Grant was offered work as
a Property Consultant. One of his more interesting
contracts was with Fletcher Homes as the Sales and
Marketing Manager at their Randwick Park
development. While Grant was with Fletcher Homes he
completed a study on the information search that
property buyers conduct when they are looking for a
property to buy, knowledge that has armed him well
for Netrealty.
Fletcher Homes was followed by a contract with United
Networks (now Vector) as their Network Property
Manager during their fibre optic cable network roll
out, which involved some high level lease and
license negotiations. This was an intense contract
so Grant had to stop his study and redeemed his
Master’s degree papers for a Postgraduate
Certificate in Commerce with a Property endorsement.
From there, Grant went full circle and set up the
first RE/MAX office in New Zealand and started
selling both residential and commercial real estate.
Today RE/MAX provides Netrealty with technology that
would not usually be available to a boutique office.
Grant has lost count of how many properties he has
sold over the years and doesn't like to rest on his
laurels. He does remember some of more unusual sales
which include lifestyle blocks, horticultural
blocks, boarding houses and even a bowling club.
This is testament to his lateral thinking and
ability to adapt to any environment.
While Grant prefers to keep a relatively low profile
in the industry he is known for his integrity,
vendor loyalty, non abrasive approach and high
success rate.
TESTIMONIALS
"During our fibre optic network roll out, Grant
successfully negotiated over 200 commercial
lease/license agreements for United Networks
Communications' in 2 years. His loyalty, dedication
and professionalism are beyond reproach. I have no
hesitation in recommending Grant as a Senior
Property Consultant."
Sean Mc Donald – GM, United Networks (now
Vector)
25 Croydon Ave Mt Eden
"I have sold a number of properties through Grant
over the years and he has always provided me with
excellent advice and service. He has consistently
under-promised and over-delivered in selling my
properties. I have also done business with Grant in
another capacity and have always found Grant’s word
to be his bond and his integrity to be beyond
reproach."
Martin Watson - Painter, Decorator
Fowlds Ave Sandringham
"We recently engaged Grant to sell our property in
Sandringham. We were impressed by the advice we were
given to make the property more appealing to
prospective buyers and the quality of the marketing
that attracted a significant number of potential
buyers to inspect the property.
The final bid at the auction was not as much as we
would have been happy to sell the property at and we
were not put under any pressure by Grant to accept
that offer. Instead Grant worked hard to get us
another $47,000 which we then decided to accept,
allowing us to purchase another property at a good
price while the market was still flat."
Raj Sethi MBA, Doctor Ravi
32C Picton Street Freemans Bay
"I had made Grant aware that we wanted to sell our
property at the above address and we had not
obtained a Code of Compliance Certificate for the
property from Auckland City Council. There were a
number of things that had to be done to the property
before a CCC could be issued. Fortunately Grant’s
knowledge of construction and Auckland City's
District Plan enabled him to achieve a sale of the
property with full disclosure of the issues. I was
very happy with the final result."
David Ponting, Architect
Mona Ave Mangere Bridge
"We had developed a block of land at the end of Mona
Ave in Mangere Bridge, forming a new road and
creating services for 14 dwellings which could then
be further subdivided into between 14 and 16 sites.
We received a number of low offers and potential
trades for the land, however Grant was the only
agent who was able to come up with an offer that was
almost completely free of conditions, at a price we
were willing to accept, and resulted in us getting
paid in cash.
If it had not been for his knowledge and experience
he would not have been able to explain the town
planning subdivision and building requirements,
giving the buyers the confidence to purchase the
block of land at an acceptable price. I have no
hesitation in recommending Grant as a Senior
Property Consultant."
